The Idaho Association of Developmental Disabilities Agencies(IADDA) is a nonprofit association formed for the purpose of providing education and other charitable purposes. Our purpose is to offer assistance to members in providing suitable programs for persons with developmental disabilities. The Association will encourage all agencies and professionals to improve the quality of service provided to consumers with developmental disabilities.

History

The Association has been in existence since June of 1989. Since that time we have been involved with influencing the standards of practice within the industry. We have a working relationship with the Department of Health and Welfare in formulation of regulations that are reasonable and still allow us to meet the needs of consumers. The Association has adopted a code of ethical standards that requires professional conduct on the part of its members. The Association also presents an annual conference for all service providers to bring them up to date on the latest technology in the field of Developmental Disabilities.


 

 
Definition

A "developmental disability" is an impairment, such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy or autism which is manifested before the person attains the age of twenty-two. The disability results in the substantial functional limitation in three of more of the following areas: 
·         Self care 
·         Receptive and expressive language 
·         Learning 
·         Mobility 
·         Self-direction 
·         Capacity for independent living
